People came from all over the Netherlands, as well as from nations all over Europe and the world, spiritually hungry and ready to experience the power of God. In a land known for distinctive windmills, cheese, wooden shoes, dikes, tulips, and bicycles, a mighty wave of God’s anointing touched the Ahoy Rotterdam at the Benny Hinn Ministries Holy Spirit Miracle Crusade on August 31–September 1, 2007. What happened during those two days touched tens of thousands of lives, and the impact continues to reverberate far beyond this historic nation.
A HISTORIC COUNTRY
Located in western Europe, bordering the North Sea, between Belgium and Germany, the densely populated country is home to 16,570,613 people on a land mass smaller than New Jersey. The Netherlands is often called Holland, but this is technically incorrect, as North and South Holland in the western Netherlands are only two of the country’s twelve provinces.
Rotterdam, founded in the thirteenth century and the site for the Benny Hinn Ministries Holy Spirit Miracle Crusade, is the largest port in the world. It is a city of modern architecture, events, leisure, and recreation. More than a million people from 162 countries live in the Rotterdam region.
The Ahoy Rotterdam, the multifunctional facility where the crusade was held, is a striking venue, built in 1971, which has won Dutch and foreign prizes for its special construction. Additional expansions have made the Ahoy one of Europe’s main venues for sporting and entertainment events.
Well known for its liberal social policies, the Netherlands is one of the most secular countries in the world, with fewer than one out of every five attending church regularly. The numbers are even less among those under the age of 35.
A GROWING SPIRITUAL HUNGERDutch believers have been praying for the Netherlands to become known for a powerful, widespread outpouring of God’s Spirit upon the nation’s 16.5 million people. As a result, people throughout this nation and the entire continent have been anticipating the Benny Hinn Ministries Crusade since it was first scheduled.
People attended from all over the Netherlands as well as from Portugal, France, India, Indonesia, Armenia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, the U.S., Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Norway, Iraq, Egypt, and more. The spiritual hunger filled the Ahoy Rotterdam and an overflow area.
THE GREATEST MIRACLE
Early in each service Pastor Benny preached a salvation message and invited all who wanted to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ to lift their hands and come forward. Many people responded from all over the building and overflow area.
“Sing it again, choir,” Pastor Benny directed as the choir continued to sing the familiar lyrics of “I Surrender All.”
“We’re going to wait for you,” Pastor Benny added as he watched people stream into the aisles from all over the building.
“This is the greatest miracle!” he exclaimed. “This is the greatest miracle!”
Many of the pastors seated on the platform wiped tears away as they marveled at the crowds coming forward to give their lives to Jesus Christ.
ANOINTING FOR MIRACLES
In the first service Pastor Benny took time to share how he had come to the Netherlands shortly after he was saved, adding that the Netherlands held many wonderful memories for him.
As he began to read from the Scriptures and share his message, the anointing for miracles descended quickly as Pastor Benny began to preach the Word with power and authority.
On the final night of the crusade, Pastor Benny began by preaching on the cross of Jesus Christ and the power of His shed blood. He shared the illustration of the woman with the issue of blood, admonishing the people that it was the touch of faith that brought her miracle. An awesome anointing for miracles quickly invaded the arena, and Pastor Benny began calling out words of knowledge.
Miracles of healing throughout the services included these remarkable testimonies:
A 25-year-old man, deaf from birth, wore a hearing aid in both ears to try to achieve a small measure of hearing. Joined by two family members, he came to the platform carrying the hearing aids in his hands to testify that his miracle had begun. After talking with the young man briefly, Pastor Benny laid hands on him and prayed. As God’s power flowed through the young man, he spontaneously covered his ears and burst into tears of joy, repeating, “I can hear you! I can hear you!”
Many other people, unable to come to the platform to testify because of time constraints, claimed miracles of healing.
A PROMISE TO RETURN
Rotterdam experienced a powerful, dynamic crusade with an anointing that intensified from one service to the next.
Before the final service ended, Pastor Benny promised to return to the Netherlands.
“I am asking partners all over the world to pray for this great move of God to continue in Rotterdam,” Pastor Benny Hinn urged. “I have loved this nation since the first time I visited in the early 1970s. My love for this country continues to grow. This is such a critical time for the entire region, and I believe God has a mighty work to do in the Netherlands and surrounding nations. Pray for hearts to continue to be reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a result of what happened at the Ahoy Rotterdam. Intercede for His Word to continue to go forth with liberty through the people who were touched by God’s power. This is Europe’s season for a powerful outpouring and a time for hope and salvation for those who don’t know Jesus Christ as Savior. The time is now!”
