Over 350,000 in Brazil Witness God’s Mighty Power

People streamed into Porto Alegre’s Anfiteatro Por do Sol for the historic crusade services held on March 13–14, 2009. In an electrified atmosphere, the first night crowd of a reported 150,000 worshiped God in majestic praise.

Faith Springs to Life
After dynamic music by both Ingrid Rosario and the massive choir, Pastor Benny preached a faith-filled message noting several scriptural references where all were healed. “I haven’t come to Brazil to tell you about healing; I’ve come to tell you about the Healer! I haven’t come to preach about salvation; I’ve come to tell you about the Savior!”

He illustrated his message of healing by using the account from Scripture of the paralyzed man who was lowered down to Jesus through the roof by friends. Using Pastor Dave Palmquist to illustrate the paralytic, Pastor Benny directed him to lie down on the platform, then shared highlights from the miracle account.

As Pastor Benny continued telling the story, Dave jumped to his feet with hands upraised to depict the miracle of the paralyzed man being healed!

Faith continued to grow. By the final Saturday evening service, attendance had risen to over 200,000, and the massive crowds began arriving early in anticipation of the service.

The atmosphere was explosive with a great sense of expectancy in the audience. After glorious praise and worship, national dancers presented a special presentation and Ingrid Rosario ministered with the choir singing “Lord, You’re Holy,” in Portuguese. As the song came to a close, miracles began to happen throughout the grounds of Porto Alegre’s Anfiteatro Por do Sol.
 
Miracles Abound
As the anointing swept through the crowd, Pastor Benny began calling out the various miracles that were happening. People began to come out of wheelchairs and throw down their crutches.

“If God has touched you tonight, come and testify of what God has done for you. Even if you can’t get on the platform, come forward and make a public declaration of your miracle!”

Some of the miracles during both services included these:

• A woman who had suffered with lupus for 30 years was miraculously healed. Weeping for joy, she came forward to share that she no longer had pain or weakness.

• A weeping mother carried her 2-year-old son up the steps holding a piece of white paper. Pastor Benny soon learned that the little boy had never stood or walked. She carried the doctor’s report stating that he had never walked and could not walk. As the mother put the little boy down, the toddler began wandering around the platform, walking toward Pastor Benny and investigating everything that was happening. Pastor Benny spent several minutes with the little boy and his mother, marveling at what God had done. As the mother was about to leave the platform, she told Pastor Benny, with the help of the interpreter, that today was her son’s birthday. On his second birthday, the boy received a life-changing present, for it was the first day he had ever walked!

• A man came forward with a crutch in hand. As he shared what God had done and demonstrated how he had walked previously, only able to shuffle around with the aid of the crutch, he moved slowly toward Pastor Benny. Then Pastor Benny grabbed the crutch and said, “Show me how you walk now!” The man began walking, then moved more swiftly, then broke into a slow run across the platform. Soon Pastor Benny and the man were running back and forth across the platform together as the massive crowd applauded in praise to the Lord Jesus!

• A young woman came to the platform with her mother. The girl had been deaf and mute, so she and her mother had only been able to communicate using sign language. Suddenly during the service, as the healing anointing moved throughout the Anfiteatro Por do Sol, the daughter indicated that the music was too loud. The realization hit both of them that God’s healing power had touched the young girl. By the time they walked to the front to share what God had done, the girl also wanted to speak. She had never spoken before in her life! Pastor Benny prayed for the girl again, then asked her to imitate him, clapping his hands once, then twice, then three times. Then he stood behind her and pronounced the word “Hallelujah!” The girl said, “Hallelujah!” as the crowd roared its praise. Then Pastor Benny said, “Jesus!” The girl again repeated him, “Jesus!” Again the grounds were filled with praise to the God Who Heals. By this time the mother was overcome with emotion. Pastor told the grateful mother to take her girl home and begin to teach her to talk!

• Another lady who had suffered with lupus for some time came to the platform to testify that God had healed her. As she spoke, she trembled mightily under the power of the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

• A 6-year-old girl who had suffered with asthma came forward to testify of healing. By the time she stood before the crowd, she could breathe with no difficulty.

• A young man invited his mother to the service on the first day of the crusade. She was so intrigued during that first service that she decided to attend again. During the final service she was miraculously healed. Her son’s arms were in casts, and Pastor Benny prayed for him as well, asking God to completely heal him.

• A young girl and her mother came to the platform. The mother carried the medical report that described the paralysis in her daughter’s face. The mother told Pastor Benny, “My daughter has never been able to smile, but tonight God touched her and she can smile!” As Pastor Benny looked at the daughter, the girl beamed with a big, broad smile.

• A lady who had broken her back 8 years earlier was healed during the final service. She described the injury, explaining how she had been cleaning the area above a commercial washer when she fell off, breaking her back. Her injuries forced her to resign from her job, and she had not been able to return to her job. In great pain, she was forced to walk bent over. Suddenly, God touched her in a powerful way. All the pain was gone and she could stand up straight, walking and moving. Her husband wept as he looked on in amazement at how God had touched his wife!

• A man testified of suffering with rheumatism, with terrible pain in his shoulders, knees, ankles, and legs, for 40 years. During the service, as the anointing swept throughout the grounds, he was healed. Everyone cheered as he jumped up and down, rejoicing.

• A pastor’s wife who had suffered with 7 cysts in her breast for 7 years was healed. She said that all the cysts were gone and she had no more pain or discomfort.

• A woman was healed of cancer. Amazingly, the physician who had diagnosed the cancer was present during the service. He came forward to confirm the earlier diagnosis as well as the miracle.

• At one point Pastor Benny noticed a woman kneeling with her face against the floor at the side of the platform. When he inquired, he discovered that she was praying and thanking the Lord for what had happened to her daughter. Her 16-year-old had suffered all the weakness and multiple conditions associated with leukemia but had been healed during the service. Then, as her mother watched her daughter run back and forth across the platform, strong and firm in each step, the mother began to jump up and down repeatedly, rejoicing at what God had done for her daughter.

Many more with miracle testimonies were unable to report on the platform because time did not allow.

Promise and Prayer for the Future
Pastor Benny closed the service with an altar call, inviting all who wanted to experience the greatest miracle of all—salvation—to come forward. People moved quickly into the aisles and toward the front, jamming all the aisles and standing room. Men, women, and young people prayed the prayer of salvation and gave their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. As he closed the prayer, people rejoiced and began to praise God and shout. The service closed with jubilant praise and a promise from Pastor Benny that he would come back to Brazil!

As Pastor Benny turned to leave the platform, he waved a final good-bye to the people as they lifted their voices once more in jubilant praise to our wonderful Lord Jesus for all that had been accomplished.

Brazil occupies an immense area along the eastern coast of South America and is the fourth most populous democracy in the world. Porto Alegre, central to the fourth largest metropolitan area in the country, is one of the most important cultural, political, and economic centers of southern Brazil.
