Island Paradise of Mauritius Welcomes Miracle Crusade

Amidst the natural beauty of the magnificent island nation of Mauritius, located off the African continent in the southwest Indian Ocean, is the town of Quatre Bornes, site of the July 5–6, 2008, Benny Hinn Ministries Holy Spirit Miracle Crusade. 

Thousands Receive Salvation
As a standing-room-only crowd filled the massive Anjalay Stadium, many outside the soccer stadium watched on a large screen as Pastor Benny Hinn was warmly received by the people of Mauritius.  

A majestic 800-voice crusade choir filled the air with praise music prior to Pastor Benny’s salvation message, “God sent His Son as a sacrifice for mankind, but through repentance of sin, you can be redeemed!” 

He challenged the thousands seated before him to consider where they would spend eternity: “There is a heaven, and there is a hell. Where you spend eternity is your decision.” 

He cited statistics stating that on a worldwide basis an average of 150,000 people perish each day and pass into eternity. 

As he concluded his message each evening, he invited all who wanted to receive Jesus Christ as Savior to raise their hand. Then he asked them to stand and make their way to the front of the stadium. As the people moved forward, the majority of them still had their hand upraised in response to the salvation call. Pastor Benny asked how many were first-time decisions, and thousands indicated that this was the first time they had ever prayed for salvation. 

As the choir continued to sing verse after verse of “Just As I Am,” thousands upon thousands responded in both services, filling the area in front of the stage and jamming all the aisles in the stadium. As they repeated the prayer for salvation with the help of the interpreter, many wept and some wailed with loud outcries as they prayed for salvation. The response for salvation was extraordinary with 7,000–8,000 souls responding to the salvation call in each service. 

The God of Miracles!
During each of the services, Pastor Benny preached a message focusing on how Jesus healed all, healing the sick, afflicted, and oppressed wherever He went. 

He cited the example from Scripture how Jesus came down from the mountain after praying all night and was met by a great crowd.  

“The Bible says that Jesus healed them all,” Pastor Benny taught. “The Son of God stood among the people, and the whole multitude sought to touch Him. Jesus was moved with compassion.” 

In the second service, Pastor Benny taught an illustrated message of the crippled man who sat at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, asking for alms.   

Pastor Benny called Dave Palmquist to the platform and asked him to sit down on stage. Then Pastor Benny and Jim Cernero, portraying Peter and John, moved slowly across the platform toward Dave, the crippled man. 

Pastor Benny quoted the story from Acts: 

As the roleplay concluded, the crowd burst into thunderous shouts and applause as their faith for miracles leaped within them. Pastor Benny began calling out words of knowledge about miracles that were happening in the crowd. The atmosphere was electrified, and the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit was present to heal. 

Reported miracles included: 

• A woman who had suffered excruciating pain for years due to a pinched nerve was miraculously healed. All the pain was gone and she could move without pain. 
  
• A woman, suffering with severe spinal pain because one leg was considerably shorter than the other had hobbled around in pain for years. During the service she realized that the condition was totally corrected. She could walk perfectly. Her face beamed as the crowd thundered applause at what God was doing. 
  
• A woman with breast cancer came to the service desperate for a miracle. First she received the greatest miracle of all as she responded to the altar call and gave her life to Jesus Christ. Then later in the service, she was healed from breast cancer. She said she knew she was healed because she could suddenly lift her arms high in the air without pain or restriction, something she had not been able to do earlier. 
  
• A woman, unable to walk without crutches, had suffered with severe pain and came to the service looking for a miracle. Because of the distance she would have to walk to get to the service, she came in a wheelchair, leaving her crutches at home. She was previously unable to even take one step without her crutches or some form of assistance. During the second miracle service, she was healed and her legs were strengthened. She stood from her wheelchair and walked to the front of the stadium where she ascended the steep stairs to the platform to testify how God had touched and healed her. She rejoiced, “Without a miracle this would have been totally impossible, but with God, it was possible!” 
  
• A man too weak to walk to the service was carried to the service in a beach chair. But as God’s healing power touched him, he leaped from his chair and walked, moving quickly back and forth across the platform to demonstrate how God had touched him. 
  
• A woman’s blind eye was made to see. As Pastor Benny moved back and forth in front of her, he challenged her to touch his nose. She moved quickly, covering her good eye, and touched his nose easily, proving she could see from her once-blind eye. 
  
• A woman had suffered with deterioration of her bones for some time and had been forced to take injections in her knees for pain. She had been scheduled for surgery but had decided to come to the miracle crusade instead, expecting a miracle. She got her miracle, and all the pain was gone! 
  
• A young man on crutches, who had never walked in his life, came to the service with his mother. During the service, he received his miracle and suddenly realized he could walk. As he continued to take one step after another, his mother screamed with excitement because she had never seen her son walk. 
  
• A young man suffering with bone cancer was healed and felt strength return to his body. His whole countenance changed as God’s healing power touched him and made him whole. 
  
• A woman who required a hearing aid began to realize that she was suddenly hearing. She removed the hearing aid and discarded it because she no longer needed it. Once on the platform, she repeated words that Pastor Benny spoke behind her, finally shouting to him, “Yes, I can hear! I can hear!” Her face beamed with joy and gratitude. 
  
• Another woman came to the platform carrying her hearing aids in her hand, testifying that her deaf ears had been opened and she could hear. 
  
• Many miracles of healing from various forms of arthritis were reported. One sweet woman came to the platform when Pastor Benny picked her out of the crowd of those suffering with arthritis. As Pastor Benny prayed for her, she said her pain left. Turning to him at one point she told him, “You know, Pastor Benny, I’m one of your partners!” 
  

So many more miracle testimonies filled the front of the stadium during each service. It was obvious that the God of miracles moved mightily at this island crusade! 

A Challenge
“You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first, and then heaven, and that heaven was copied after Mauritius!” wrote author Mark Twain in his personal travelogue.  

“Only eternity will reveal just how many were saved and healed in beautiful Mauritius,” Pastor Benny reported afterward, “and to Jesus belongs all the glory. The great days we have been dreaming of and praying for are quickly approaching. Precious souls around the world are being saved and healed in great numbers.
