Massive Altar Call Highlights Overflow Cyprus Service

A capacity-plus crowd jammed the Millennium Palace in Limassol (Lemesos), Cyprus, for the Benny Hinn Ministries Miracle Service on February 24, 2007. Excitement had built during recent months and weeks as word spread about the upcoming meeting.

The expectation was evident as people came from all over Europe and the Middle East, including Greece, Lebanon, Germany, Great Britain, Egypt, Israel, Dubai, Syria, Norway, and many more.

What happened during the service amazed everyone! Worship music filled the Millennium Palace. The music of Alvin Slaughter was warmly received. Again and again the people erupted in jubilant praise.

Cyprus, third-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, has a long and storied past. Civilizations have come and gone with everyone from Alexander the Great to Cleopatra claiming rule over this sun-drenched country.

The isle’s history includes many references in the Old and New Testaments. During his missionary journeys, Paul journeyed to Cyprus. Both Barnabus (who was from the island) and Mark ministered there.

Today, Cyprus blends European and Middle Eastern cultures. Ancient vineyards and frescoed buildings share the sandy land with citrus orchards and Roman mosaic-tiled floors.

The Greatest Miracle

Early in the service Pastor Benny took great care to present a dynamic message of salvation, declaring, “I know many of you have come tonight for a miracle, but the greatest miracle is not physical but spiritual!”

Noting that most of the people on the isle are Greek Orthodox, Pastor Benny took time to share how he had served as an altar boy in the Greek Orthodox Church, focusing on his background and family heritage. He shared several scriptures which clearly state that there is none righteous, that no man can come to God but through Jesus Christ.

“I accepted Jesus Christ at 7:50 a.m. on February 14, 1973,” Pastor Benny declared, “and from that moment my life has never been the same!”

After a Scripture-filled message with personal examples, he extended an invitation to all those who wanted to surrender their life to Jesus Christ to lift their hands. He promptly invited them to make a public profession by coming to the front of the auditorium. People of all ages stood and made their way to the front to pray the sinner’s prayer with Pastor Benny. The massive altar call culminated as the people repeated a prayer of repentance and surrender.

As the respondents returned to their seats they were given copies of The Greatest Miracle, a booklet specially prepared to help them as they begin their new life in Christ.

Miracles Abound
Almost immediately, Pastor Benny began singing the familiar song, “I Am the God That Healeth Thee,” followed by the reading of several scriptures citing examples where Jesus healed all. As a healing anointing descended, he began to call out words of knowledge of miracles that were taking place.

Miracles included these:

• Cancerous tumors disappeared.
• Arthritis vanished.
• Severe shoulder problems were healed .
• A star athlete came forward to tell how he had been healed from a terrible injury that had prevented him from playing soccer. He showed how he was able to walk and run with no more pain.

As people continued to come forward to testify of God’s healing touch on their lives, the atmosphere of the service changed somewhat and a number of people from Lebanon were called to the front. As Pastor Benny laid hands on them, a powerful anointing fell on each one and they were visibly touched in a powerful way by the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

“What a tremendous service with a powerful anointing this was,” Pastor Benny reports. “So many people were visibly touched by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. I am asking partners all over the world to continue to pray that what happened here will continue to spread. This is such a critical time for the entire region, and God is beginning to do something truly remarkable among the precious people here!”
