The country of South Africa, slightly less than twice the size of Texas, is located at the extreme southern tip of the continent of Africa. With over 45 million people, the nation boasts an emerging market with an abundant supply of natural resources and a stock exchange that ranks among the 10 largest in the world. Throughout this beautiful, progressive country and the entire continent, the impact and excitement continues to spread as a result of the just-completed Benny Hinn Ministries Holy Spirit Miracle Crusade in Port Elizabeth, a Sunday service in Cape Town, and a Training for Ministry Conference in Durban.
Port Elizabeth Hosts Miracle Crusade
On March 23–24, 2007, the famed Mecer Stadium, located on Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth, was jammed to capacity and transformed into a sanctuary of praise, worship, miracles, and preaching.
After enthusiastic worship, the crowd welcomed Pastor Benny in both services, and a sense of faith-filled expectation filled the air.
On Friday evening, Pastor Benny challenged the crowd with a dynamic message on healing. He sited several references where Jesus “healed all.” Pastor Benny pointed toward Jesus’s healing nature, reminding them that Jesus still heals the sick and afflicted.
On Saturday night, Pastor Benny shared a message of healing, focusing on the children of Israel. He contrasted Egypt and the Promised Land, taking time to point out the afflictions that the children of Israel suffered with, and how healing came to them when they left Egypt and stepped into the Promised Land.
“Some believers are not healed because they have one foot in Egypt and one foot in the Promised Land!” Pastor Benny proclaimed.
Both services in Port Elizabeth, marked by amazing miracles, including these highlights:
She had come to the service in a wheelchair because she suffered from a spinal injury from a car accident as well as cancer of the back, which had made it impossible for her to walk. But on Friday evening she was one of the first individuals to make her way to the platform to testify of what God had done in her life. Her face beamed with joy as she shared what had happened to her during the worship service. When Pastor Benny learned of the problems she had once had with her spine and back, he asked her to bend over and touch her toes. As she bent down and reached for her toes, she said, “I couldn’t do that before! That was impossible!” As she stood up again, her face was beaming with gratitude at what the Lord had done for her.
A woman who came by bus from Zambia (a 3,000 mile, two-day journey by bus) was gloriously healed. She talked about how her family had worried about her coming alone, but she said, “I have watched you on TV, Pastor Benny, and I wanted to see you in person! I needed a miracle and I was healed tonight!” When Pastor Benny learned of the sacrifice the woman had made to attend the crusade, he called a team member over and directed him to buy her a plane ticket home. “You may have come on a bus, but you’re going to fly home!” The woman wept tears of joy and jumped up and down with excitement at the news. Both services closed with the front of the stadium filled with people who came forward to ask Jesus Christ inside.
As Pastor prepared to leave the platform, he said, “I love Port Elizabeth and I’m coming back here for another crusade!” The people cheered with excitement at the news, waving energetically as he left the platform.
Cape Town Sunday Service
On Sunday, Pastor Benny held an afternoon service with Pastor Neville and Wendy McDonald at Good Hope Center,
where he was welcomed by a capacity crowd inside, and all available overflow rooms were filled to overflowing. Thousands waited outside, participating in the service by way of large screens, which delivered the images from inside the building.
Before Pastor Benny began to minister, a former Muslim woman shared an amazing testimony of her healing which had taken place the last time Pastor Benny ministered in Cape Town. She shared her testimony enthusiastically, at times bringing the crowd to their feet as they burst into shouts of praise. She challenged all those in need of a miracle to trust God for it.
Pastor Benny preached a dynamic message on the Holy Spirit, sharing important keys to the anointing—“keys that will change your life!”
Miracles included:
Many other wonderful miracles occurred, and Pastor Benny commented later that this was the most powerful anointing he had ever experienced in Cape Town.
Durban’s Training for Ministry Conference
Durban is South Africa’s ultimate sun-splashed coastal resort. Not only is it Africa’s largest, busiest port, but it has become an international economic powerbase.
On March 26–27, amidst this amazing tourist hotspot, the Durban Christian Centre hosted Africa’s first Benny Hinn Ministries Training for Ministry Conference for 10,000 partners and friends. A capacity crowd packed the auditorium as well as several overflow rooms.
During the first conference service, soon after Pastor Benny stepped on the platform, a healing anointing descended and miracles began to take place everywhere, including these:
As Pastor Benny began to minister the Word of God, he declared, “The power of God as nothing to do with a believer’s life; it is the presence of Jesus that imparts into our hearts faith and strengthens our walk with the Lord! When the presence of God and the power of God are together there is life and balance. It is not right to say ‘give me more of You.’ Instead, you should say, `Lord, take more of me.’”
Pastor Benny took time to share personal experiences from his own life regarding the anointing of the Holy Spirit and operating under the anointing. Then, before he closed the service, he took time to teach the nine gifts of the Spirit, stating that it was important to remember that the anointing of the Holy Spirit stirs the gifts to begin to function.
The powerful teaching continued throughout the conference, and each evening as Pastor Benny brought his teaching to a close, a powerful anointing descended on the services. He spent time laying hands on many who were attending the conference. These were incredibly powerful times, intensifying as the people continued to sing songs of praise and worship to the Lord. Many were unable to stand in the awesome presence of the Lord.
“God is doing a mighty work in South Africa,” Pastor Benny reports. “The people are hungry and open to the Gospel. They are faced with challenges, certainly, but people from all walks of life are searching for answers to the questions that people everywhere face. I am asking partners and ministry friends around the globe to pray for the people of South Africa and the entire continent of Africa who have been touched so deeply during the Port Elizabeth crusade, the Cape Town service, and the Durban Training for Ministry Conference. Pray that God will touch an entire generation throughout this region in a magnitude that has never previously been experienced!”
To help meet the growing needs of South Africa and the entire African continent, offices for Benny Hinn Ministries are now open in Durban and are being used greatly to facilitate broadcast, crusade, and mission outreaches throughout Africa.
